Krista Bertelson
Pleasant View Director
Krista is a passionate educator with a background in Spanish and Experiential Education. She has taught in diverse settings across the U.S., from fully outdoor Waldorf inspired and project-based schools to tech-integrated models, always focusing on student-centered, reflective learning. A mindfulness educator since 2014, she has trained teachers nationwide on practical use in the classroom. Outside of work hours, she enjoys camping with her family, exploring natural health, and is a lifelong learner. Krista is excited to join Seed School, where her values and experience align with its mission.
Heather Gibby
Seedlings- Kindergarten
Heather Gibby has been teaching young children for over 18 years. She attended BYU-Idaho where she graduated with an Associate's degree in Professional Preschool Education. She then transferred to Utah State University where she earned her Bachelor's degree. She has also taken Nutrition and Wellness classes at Webster State University. She is excited to teach her second year of Kindergarten at Seed School.
Madi Ellis
Sprouts- 1st Grade
Madi Ellis has been teaching for three years now and is very passionate about her career. She loves working with kids, watching them grow, and creating a classroom where they feel heard, valued, and free to be themselves. This year, she’s excited to teach 1st grade and help her students build a strong foundation for their learning journey.
Melinda Bowser
Buds- 2nd Grade
Melinda joins Seed School as the Administrative Assistant with over six years of experience in elementary education. She graduated from Weber State University and began teaching in Weber School District. She has taught a variety of grade levels and is passionate about supporting both students and staff. Most recently, she spent a year homeschooling her own children, which gave her a valuable perspective on personalized learning and family involvement.
With a strong background in education and a commitment to helping schools run smoothly, she looks forward to creating a welcoming and structured environment for students, families, and faculty.
Outside of school, she enjoys playing the piano, gardening, baking with sourdough, and hanging out with her kids. She is excited to be part of the Seed School family and looks forward to building meaningful connections throughout the year.
Bayli Ferrin
Willows- 3rd-4th/Lead Teacher
Bayli is a dedicated and passionate educator with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (with a minor in History) from Utah State University and a Master of Education from Western Governors University. She began her career teaching third grade, where she quickly discovered the joy of helping young learners grow in confidence and curiosity. After a few years in the classroom, Bayli took time to focus on her growing family—an experience that has deepened her understanding of children and strengthened her commitment to education.
Bree Schvaneveldt
Aspens- 5th Grade
Bree Schvaneveldt taught in the Weber School District for 13 years and is passionate about helping students discover their potential. She strives to create a classroom where every child feels safe, valued, challenged, and excited to learn.
She is the proud mom of three amazing kids—Tydan (15), Devree (13), and Trey (10)—and their mini Goldendoodle, Nike.
Bree loves sports, especially competing in high-level pickleball tournaments, and enjoys cheering on her own children in all of their activities. She also loves music, hiking, fishing, creative writing, and exploring the outdoors.
Together with her sister, Ashley, Bree has written several children's books. She also founded Takara Hunts, where she designs custom treasure hunts and classroom puzzles that inspire creativity, critical thinking, and a love of learning.
Bree graduated as the salutatorian of her college class and believes that perseverance is one of life's greatest lessons. She is honored to be part of the SEED School community and looks forward to building lasting relationships with her students and their families. 💖
Kathy Story
Spanish Teacher
Kathy was born and raised in Peru, where the Spanish language and culture were a meaningful part of her everyday life. After moving to the United States 12 years ago, she developed an even deeper appreciation for her roots and for the beauty, traditions, and diversity found throughout the Spanish-speaking world. She is excited to share that connection with her students and help them see language as a bridge to understanding and connecting with others.
Kathy lives with her husband and their two children. As a parent, she understands the importance of creating a learning environment where students feel valued, supported, and encouraged to grow with confidence.
For the past three years, Kathy has worked as a Spanish Dual Immersion Program paraprofessional in a public school, where she supported students in developing their Spanish language skills and building confidence in their communication. She believes that learning a language should be an engaging and meaningful experience where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress.
Kathy is passionate about helping students develop confidence in speaking Spanish while fostering curiosity, cultural appreciation, and a lifelong love for learning.
Karli Plant
Oaks- 6th-8th grade
Karli is a retro loving mom to five amazing kids, and two adorable cats. She loves thrifting, crafting, reading, gardening, spending time with her family, and traveling to the Pacific Northwest. With a degree in special education and an endorsement in art, Karli has the experience and passion to teach her students with kindness, creativity, and heart. She is so excited to bring the joy of learning into her students’ lives!
Crystal Mikhail
Admin Assitant
Crystal Mikhail brings a radiant spirit and a rich background in education to her role as the 2nd and 3rd grade teacher at the Bear River Seed School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and began her career working in a post-high school program supporting adults with severe disabilities—a role that deepened her compassion and honed her ability to connect with students of all abilities.
Crystal has taught dance, tumbling, and cheerleading to children and youth of all ages, blending structure with joyful expression. Her lifelong love for nature, herbs, gardening, chickens, and homesteading infuses her teaching with a hands-on, earthy wisdom that her students adore.
Crystal loves all things DIY and has a rare gift for creating beauty from scratch—whether she’s crafting, building, or planting. She creates a calm, caring classroom where every child feels safe, supported, and inspired to grow—academically, emotionally, and with a spirit of curiosity and confidence.
Crystal is a devoted wife and the mother of three incredible children. She approaches every interaction—whether with family or strangers—with the same boundless love, patience, and sincerity.
Above all, Crystal strives to serve others wherever she goes. At Seed School, she’s not just a teacher—she’s a builder of hearts, a cultivator of joy, and a beloved part of the community."
