How do we impliment our pillars?

Academics: Our academic program strikes a balance between teacher led instruction, collaborative learning, and individual creative exploration.  Small class sizes allow teachers to get to know their students and challenge them at the depth they need.  Students learn core curriculum of math, language arts, history, and science, as well as Spanish and other extracurricular topics. Woven into the fabric of all instruction and learning is nature, mindfulness, and hands-on opportunities.  Our hybrid schedule and at-home learning gives parents an essential role in their student’s progress and provides families the flexibility to focus on topics and experiences that matter most to them.

Hands-On Learning: Hands-on learning means students are exploring, building, experimenting, questioning, and creating. It turns abstract concepts into real-world experiences that children can see, touch, and understand. Whether they are measuring ingredients, constructing models, conducting experiments, or solving real-life problems, students are deeply engaged in the learning process.

Nature: We get kids outside as much as possible through a combination of nature walks, outside brain breaks, holding lessons outside, and nature based projects.  We also bring nature inside by incorporating nature themes into our core subjects and learning about nature and the world around us through creative lessons and hands-on activities.

Mindfulness: We guide students in recognizing their emotions, listening to their bodies, and understanding their own needs. Mindfulness is intentionally woven into our school day, beginning each morning and closing each afternoon. This reflection builds self-awareness, emotional processing, and a sense of closure to the school day. Throughout the day, we explicitly teach children the skills to regulate themselves—how to slow their breath, recognize overwhelm, take a mindful break, ask for what they need, and return to learning with clarity.
